Invested in Bible Translation

Ann has been faithfully giving back to God for seventy years—from her first job at fifteen, to her time as a young wife, teacher, and mother of three, up to today. "What a joy to give back to the Lord!" says Ann. "As God blessed us we increased our [giving] percentage every year, adding sacrificial giving to our tithe. We found that you can't outgive God!"

Passionate about missions, Ann prayed for each of her children, that God would use them. Ann was delighted when her oldest daughter joined Wycliffe Bible Translators as a missionary, and she and her husband were able to financially partner in her ministry. Ann and her husband began dedicating their time to Bible translation themselves after attending an informational banquet.

in 1986. The couple became volunteer support staff for a Wycliffe branch office near their home. "I believe it was a calling," says Ann. "Nothing's more precious to me than God's Word. I want the world to be able to hear Him speak the way I do every day."

In 2001, just after she was widowed, Ann read a small book that made a big impact on her: The Treasure Principle. "His [author Randy Alcorn's] principles really touched my heart and challenged me to keep investing in missions. I loved the principle, 'You can't take it with you, but you can send it on ahead.'" Ann has put her treasure where her heart is, setting up several Charitable Gift Annuities through the Wycliffe Foundation that allow her to support the work of Bible translation while drawing a fixed income for her lifetime. "As small investments from years before doubled and tripled in value, we started the annuities.

Putting the increase into God's account has been better than any other investment. The annuity has really been a blessing to me through the income that keeps coming while I'm living." Ann often encourages others to think about charitable planned giving. "You can give to planned giving programs for colleges or other missions, but this is the one I'm sold on because

God says that He came for all people. This is a way to enable mission work after we're gone. My Charitable Gift Annuities support missionaries so that they won't have to spend time away from the work to raise support." When reflecting on her partnership in the Bible translation task, Ann says, "I'm grateful that God is getting His Word out to people, and I'm a part of that in a small way."
